Here’s the thing. I’m not stupid. I’m not gassed. I FULLY understand what the “entertainment industry” means. The music BUSINESS. And frankly, Rick Ross does too. He’s not just a rapper. He’s an actor. He’s in the business of “selling music”, selling an image, selling a tale…and he’s doing a damn good job at it. While I fully recognize he’s not the boss he says he is, or the drug dealer he says he is…I also recognize that he’s very damn good at picking beats. He’s never had a wack album. He didn’t bow down to 50 Cent, and he keeps coming with music that a lot of people feel on the street. This happens to be one of those songs. And while it’s difficult to balance real life and fantasy, music is STILL life…and it holds a greater power over everything else. Resulting in me listening to ignorant tunes every now and then. I get it. “I’m Not A Star” literally, has been in my car for 5 days now…on repeat. No other song, except Shyne’s latest…gets any burn. Ross is going in on this beat, flat out…he’s snappin’. I dunno, I’ve tried a million times to not listen to this correctional officer but, every time…he comes with some more shit. It is what it is. /// Rick Ross “I’m Not A Star”.
